COLD: Overcoming Pain
September 1, 2005Launch Radio Networks reports: COLD released its fourth album, "A Different Kind of Pain", on Tuesday (Aug. 30) and its arrival marks the end of a dark period in the life of lead singer Scooter Ward. The vocalist was struggling with several personal problems before making the record, but he told Launch the disc itself is about overcoming those issues. "It's just about taking bad situations and finding good in them, and keeping the good things from 'em," he said. "And that's what this whole record's about. You can overcome anything if you just want to, and if you, like, let it go, and just, you know, stand up and say, 'I'm tired of dealing with the pain, and I need to move on,' and stuff like that."
Prior to recording the album, Ward's fiancee left him, he entered rehab, two guitarists departed COLD, and the band split with its label. Worst of all, Ward's sister was given two months to live in a battle with cancer, although she has since recovered.
"A Different Kind of Pain" follows up the band's third album, 2003's "Year of the Spider". The new album's first single is called "Happens All the Time".
COLD will begin touring in support of the album on September 9 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. SMILE EMPTY SOUL joins them as openers beginning on September 20 in Springfield, Illinois.
